Whilst filming, we only used two types of technology which was the digital camera and the tripod. All our filming was done outdoors and on the streets so we haven’t used the studio therefore we haven’t used any special effects with lighting or used the green screen within our filming. All the lighting in our video is natural lighting from outside so it looks quite dull and gloomy as the day we were filming the weather wasn’t that good.
It was really windy when we were filming, this could affect the quality of our footage as the camera was quite hard to keep still for a length of time as the wind was strong.
As we haven’t used a mixture of different technologies and effects, it shows that our video is just simple and basic which is the style that we wanted to aim for.An advantage of using a digital camera with the memory card is that we can repeat filming different scenes until we think we have the perfect one, and all the others will still be saved on the camera. Therefore we can easily look through and check the other videos to see if we could use any other parts.
Another advantage is that we can watch our recordings there and then to see if they are decent, and whether or not we need to re-shoot. The digital camera we used wasn’t an expensive camera, it was just a standard basic camera but it worked well and produced some good shots with a good quality which we can use.I think our footage has been filmed to a high standard is a decent quality of footage. The lighting on some shots might not be the greatest however that can’t be helped as we filmed outside and it was a dull morning, we will edit some of the shots and see if we can make them better.
We used the camera hand held for certain parts of our filming as the tripod sometimes didn’t keep the camera as still as we wanted, and by hand holding it we were able to get a tight grip on it. We also used the camera hand held to film shots such as establishing shots or the area and on one particular scene when we did a 360 degree turn around Doug as he stood still singing. Using the camera hand held creates a shaky effect which is what we wanted.
