Resume

We will be having both performance elements and narrative elements throughout our music video of the alternative rock song “Heartburn” by Architects. The lyrics of the song will be clearly following the narrative side of the music video, as Thomas will be searching for a girl to help all her worries go away and on the way helping other people as his story follows the lyrics with the song. Douglas will be doing the performance side of the video whilst he walks down a empty road alone lip syncing and doing actions to emphasis his appearance as the singer. You will expect to see in this video, Thomas searching to help his love life and helping others on the way E.g. giving change to a homeless person. You will expect to see Douglas walking down an isolated street performing the song; through the work of lip-syncing and actions what you would typically see for the alternative rock genre.

Suggested Elements

Performance ideas- Thomas will follow the lyrics of the song ‘Heartburn’ by Architects, by performing a narrative story that follow the lyrics of the song. For example at the beginning of the song it says ‘Burn everything you have and leave it all behind’ and Thomas will be burning a picture and walking away from the camera in the distance. Douglas will be lip-syncing the lyrics of the song with appropriate actions to follow the lyrics and to keep with the genre of alternative rock.

Costumes- Douglas will be wearing casual clothing, t-shirt and denim jeans throughout the music video. Thomas will be wearing winter clothes because the day we are filming the video will be a cold day and it adds a dramatic effect to the song instead of the weather being sunny instead its dull. We are going to get some friends to star as extras in the video like a homeless man who Thomas helps. We are going to dress Sam up as a homeless man in tatty ragged clothing to make him look dull and convincing. We may also use some make up to make it look like he has a dirty face as if he’s not had a wash for a while. Another extra we are using is our friend called Alex who will be wearing winter clothing because of the weather when Thomas finally meets her at the end of the music video.

SFX- we will be using slow motion effects for the opening of the music video when Thomas is burning the photograph and throwing it on the ground. We are using this to show the audience the beginning of the narrative by showing them a key prop as he throws it away and moves on to someone else. We will be using a dull grey tint through the whole video to give the video an emotional effect.

Key locations- Douglas will be walking down an isolated road located in Failsworth. He will be lip-syncing the lyrics whilst performing actions that relate to the lyrics and genre. Thomas will be in an isolated area in Daisy Nook, which is a nature park/Forrest. He will be burning a picture in the Forrest and then walking off out of daisy nook. He will then be on a public street where there will be a homeless man sat up against a phone box that he will help.
